Cinematographer Theni Eswar creates a unique aesthetic in ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’ employs cinematographer Theni Eswar’s mindful observation of actors, creating a peaceful and dynamic visual style. The shots are static, but the frames are dynamic, resembling the visualizations of a Tao master when the film enters Sundaram’s village through James’s dream. Instead of using traditional techniques like haze and glow or different grading for the dream sequence, Theni Eswar uses frames within a frame to achieve differentiation.
