Mamta will play the lead role in Mathilukalkkappuram, a sequel to Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s classic Mathilukal. The film is written and directed by debutant Prasad and marks Mamta’s first time playing the lead opposite Mammootty. Mamta has previously appeared in Mammootty films like Big B and Bus Conductor but not as the lead.
In Mathilukalkkappuram, Mamta will play the character of Narayani, who was only heard but not seen in the original film Mathilukal. The shoot of the film will start in the first week of March in Thanjavur and is produced by Mammootty’s Play House.
